Introduction and Background:
I am a recent graduate from California State University, Northridge (CSUN) — GO MATADORS! — with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. Alongside my academic journey, I continue to play competitive soccer, reflecting my lifelong passion for the sport. Soccer is deeply ingrained in my Mexican heritage, where it’s more than just a pastime — it’s a cultural cornerstone. In my family, soccer is as important as our daily Starbucks! My family, who emigrated from Mexico in pursuit of better opportunities, worked tirelessly through their businesses to support my involvement in the game, despite financial challenges. Their relentless support enabled me to chase my dreams and deepen my passion for soccer.
Commitment to Accessibility in Youth Soccer:
Having experienced financial barriers firsthand, I am passionate about ensuring that young players, regardless of their background, can pursue soccer without worrying about affordability. My goal is to create opportunities where kids can enjoy soccer without financial constraints holding them back. Whether it’s through affordable leagues or accessible programs, I want to make soccer a reality for all children, allowing them to experience the joy, camaraderie, and development that the sport offers.
Promoting Health and Fitness in Soccer:
Beyond accessibility, I am committed to promoting health and fitness through soccer. I see the sport as an ideal way to encourage physical activity and wellness among young athletes. Drawing from my experience in strength and conditioning with collegiate athletes, I focus on fun, passion, and teamwork rather than rigid or monotonous training approaches. My goal is to create an environment where kids can improve their physical fitness, develop critical life skills, and have a great time doing it.
Helping to Grow Girls Soccer:
While I am dedicated to improving youth soccer as a whole, I recognize the unique challenges that girls often face in the sport. I am particularly excited about helping to grow girls’ participation in soccer, ensuring they have the same access, opportunities, and support as boys. Through targeted initiatives, I hope to inspire more girls to get involved in soccer and to help them develop a love for the game in a positive, inclusive environment.
Alignment with SoCal Youth Sports:
The mission of SoCal Youth Sports perfectly aligns with my personal goals of making soccer enjoyable, accessible, and developmentally enriching for all young athletes. The organization’s emphasis on fostering lasting friendships, building mentorships, and creating a supportive community through soccer is something I am thrilled to be a part of. I look forward to contributing to an environment where young players can thrive, develop their skills, and fall in love with the game — with an extra focus on ensuring girls have the support they need to succeed.
By focusing on accessibility, health, fitness, and growing the girls’ game, I am eager to help shape the future of youth soccer with SoCal Youth Sports
