Standing Together: Supporting Our SoCal Youth Sports Community During the Wildfires
The recent wildfires have had a profound impact on our community. At SoCal Youth Sports, our priority is ensuring the safety and well-being of our families while extending support to those in need.
First, we want to thank everyone who has reached out to check on us during this time. Your kindness has been heartwarming, and we are grateful to be part of such a caring community.
Our thoughts are with those directly affected by the fires, and we are committed to doing everything we can to assist. Below is an overview of how we’re responding and the resources available to support you and your loved ones.
1. Reaching Out to Families
This week, our team will be contacting families in affected areas to check in and offer support. Whether you need assistance with resources, childcare, or someone to talk to, we’re here for you.
If you require urgent assistance, don’t wait for our call—please reach out to Matt or one of our coaches directly.
2. Classes & Programs Update
To prioritize the safety of everyone involved and ensure first responders have the space and time they need, we have made the following updates:
- Paused Programs: All classes and programs in affected areas will be on hold this week.
- Unaffected Areas: We are coordinating with facilities to provide safe services for families in unaffected areas. Updates will be shared soon.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this together.
3. Community Resource Guide
We’ve gathered a list of resources to help families access essentials like food, water, clothing, shelter, and medical care:
Food & Water
Clothing Assistance
Shelter & Child Care
- Airbnb Open Homes Program
- Red Cross Shelter Finder
- YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles
- Planet Fitness – WiFi, Showers etc
Health & Medica
- NAMI Helpline
- Teledoc – Free 24/7 virtual medical care to Southern California residents, first responders and others impacted by the raging fires burning in Los Angeles. Individuals displaced by fires or those who are unable to access traditional medical care can consult licensed healthcare professionals for non-emergency illnesses by calling
If you need help accessing these resources, please let us know—we’re here to assist.
4. Supporting Childcare Needs
We have reached out to local authorities, schools, and parks & rec departments to propose a “Soccer Crèche”. This drop-in childcare service would offer kids a safe space to play soccer while families focus on recovery.
We’re awaiting approval and will update you as soon as we have more details.
5. We’re Here for You
If there’s anything we can do to support you, whether it’s helping you access resources, finding services, or providing emotional support, please reach out.
Let’s come together as a community and support one another through this challenging time.
With gratitude,
Matt Bambrick & the SoCal Youth Sports Team
