How Our Toddler Soccer Classes Work

Each session is 45 minutes of guided fun, social play, and beginner-friendly soccer activities — with parents, grandparents, or caregivers joining in on the action. These are not drop-off classes — they’re shared experiences, designed for connection and joy.

You’ll play silly games, and laugh together as your little one experiences the joy of soccer — maybe for the very first time. Expect chaos, giggles, and a little bit of magic in every class.

Whether you’re looking to come once, join regularly, or just try something new, we’re here to make it fun, flexible, and completely centered around your child’s joy.

Getting Ready for Your First Toddler Soccer Class

A parent, grandparent, nanny or caregiver participates alongside each child. Wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe athletic shoes, bring water and apply sunscreen before arriving. We provide the balls and equipment; cleats and uniforms are not required.

Arrive a few minutes early and look for your SoCal Youth Sports coach. Classes are capped at 10 children. Shy beginners are welcome to watch, explore and join at their own pace.

If your child is ready to play independently, explore our 45-minute soccer classes for ages 3–4. For the full age range, visit our kids soccer classes page.

FAQ's

What Do We Need To Bring?

Just comfortable clothes, a water bottle, and your smiles! We provide all soccer balls and equipment — no cleats or uniforms needed.

Please bring plenty of water and apply sunscreen prior to the class. Hats are fine to wear whilst playing if needed.

Snacks are ok, but please refrain from snack time until after class.

No Nuts

Public classes are limited to 10 children. We do occasionally allow exceptions and are happy to be flexible. Private Group Classes have participation limits set by the parents involved in leading the group. If you have any questions regarding this, please email matt@socalyouthsports.com

Classes will not take place if any of the following extreme weather conditions occur:

  • Forecasts of 100° F or higher
  • AQI in the red zone (as provided by AirNow – EPA Air Quality App)
  • Extreme rainfall on the day, leaving the surface unsafe
  • Lightning and hail storms
  • Extreme snowfall
  • Winds which would cause class to become a dangerous environment

You will be contacted prior to your scheduled class in the event of any of the above weather conditions and we will work with each family to arrange a replacement class.

Classes are absolutely co-ed. We are happy to support you and your child in any way possible. If you would like a gender specific group please consider requesting a Private Group Class

We do not believe in having a ‘check box’, objective-based curriculum for our classes. However, we do follow a class framework to ensure your child is getting the best experience. The framework delivers a personal experience for each child where each class is tailored to their age, stage and ability. For more on our DNA click here.

Yes — and that’s what makes it so special!
This is a parent-child class, which means you’ll be on the field, actively involved in the fun. You don’t need any soccer experience — just a willingness to move, laugh, and play alongside your child.

Participation from a grown-up helps toddlers feel safe, supported, and more confident in a new environment. It also deepens connection, builds trust, and creates beautiful bonding moments you’ll both remember.

Think of it less like a class you’re attending for your child — and more like something you’re doing with them.

Absolutely! Whether it’s Mom, Dad, a grandparent, or a nanny, we love seeing families join together. Just keep in mind that each child will need at least one adult on the field with them.

This class is designed for toddlers ages 1.5 to 3 years old. We welcome all levels of movement and experience — even if your child has never kicked a ball before!

We will add a credit back to your account to use at a later date.

That’s totally okay! Our coaches are trained in early childhood development and will encourage each child at their own pace. There’s no pressure — just playful participation.

Yes, you’re welcome to bring younger siblings along to watch or stay close by in a stroller. Just note that only registered toddlers participate in the session.
