More goalkeeper training is being released at SoCal Youth Sports, beginning with a Saturday 2:00 PM class led by Coach Andy.
This Saturday class is the first of a new set of goalkeeper sessions. Additional days and times will be added as the schedule grows, giving families more opportunities to access specialist coaching for one of soccer’s most important—and often least-supported—positions.
A Better Environment for Young Goalkeepers
Goalkeepers need more than occasional practice during a team session. They need time to make saves, work on their movement, use their feet, communicate and solve the real problems the position creates.
Our sessions are active, child-centered and game-based. Players learn through meaningful repetitions and realistic decisions, helping them improve technique while building confidence and enjoyment.
Modern Goalkeepers Are “Midfielders With Gloves On”
Shot-stopping matters, but the modern position demands much more. Classes will include handling, footwork, positioning, reactions and diving, alongside receiving, passing and distribution.
That combination helps players understand not only how to protect the goal, but how to support the team and start the attack.
Saturday at 2:00 PM With Coach Andy
Coach Andy will lead the first released class on Saturdays at 2:00 PM. His positive coaching style helps young players feel supported, challenged and comfortable learning from mistakes.
Both new and developing goalkeepers are welcome. Bring goalkeeper gloves if available, shin guards, suitable soccer footwear, water and comfortable training clothing.
More Classes Will Be Released
This is the beginning of the new goalkeeper schedule—not the final timetable. More classes will be added as they become available.
Because dates, locations and availability can change, families should use Playbook as the live source of truth for current sessions and registration status.
