Choose the Montrose sessionYour child doesn’t need to know the rules or arrive ready to play a full match. We start with movement, playful challenges and plenty of chances to explore with a ball. If your two year old is between age groups, ask us about the best fit.
What are you hoping your child gets from soccer?
Maybe it’s a place to use all that energy. Perhaps it’s a chance to make friends, build confidence away from home or try something new with you close by. Those are good reasons to start.
SoCal Youth Sports is a local nonprofit working to make quality youth sport more accessible, available and affordable. Our coaches build sessions around children: their stage of development, their interests and their confidence.
More time actually playing
Our NanoSports approach keeps games small and simple. Children get frequent chances to touch the ball, choose a direction, find a space and try again. We aim to keep them involved instead of waiting in long lines.
Coaching through games
We use playful challenges and adjust the space, rules or targets to help children learn. A small change to a game can invite a new idea without stopping everyone for a long explanation.
For younger children, progress might be joining one game, kicking toward a target or feeling comfortable enough to come back. We want children to feel that sport is somewhere they belong.

A few things to know before your first class
What if my child is shy or hasn’t played before?
Tell the coach when you arrive. Watching first or needing a little reassurance is understandable. We can help you find a gentle starting point; your child doesn’t need soccer experience.
What should we bring?
Comfortable clothes, closed-toe shoes and water. Soccer cleats are optional and we provide the equipment. Arrive five minutes early so you can meet the coach and settle in.
Do parents join in?
Yes, for Mommy, Daddy & Me. For the older age groups, introduce yourself to the coach and let us know if your child needs support getting started.
How do I claim a free October class?
Open your age group above and choose a participating session through October 30. Register for a session marked $0. If a session still shows a charge, contact us before paying so we can check it.
Not sure which group to choose? Email Matt or call (323) 991-7668. Tell us your child’s age, your area and what you’re hoping they’ll get from a class.
