Parent Tip of the Week: Use Soccer Bingo to Help Kids Watch the Game
Watching soccer can be a great learning tool, but young players often need something specific to look for. That is why we created SoCal Youth Sports Game Watch Bingo.
The idea is simple: kids watch any World Cup match at home or at a watch party, spot moments in the game, mark them off, and try to get 4 in a row. The bingo cards include moments like a goal scored, goalkeeper save, corner kick, substitution, replay shown, goal celebration, coach on TV, fans chanting, and crowd goes wild.
This turns watching soccer from passive screen time into active observation.
Instead of just asking, “Who won?” kids start noticing:
- when a goalkeeper makes a save
- how often corners and throw-ins happen
- what happens after a shot misses
- when coaches make substitutions
- how fans and players react to big moments
- It also gives parents an easy way to guide watching without turning it into a lecture. You can ask simple questions like:
“What did you spot?”
“What happened before the goal?”
“Why do you think the coach made a substitution?”
“What would you have done in that moment?”
That kind of targeted watching helps kids connect the game on TV to the game they play. We’re offering the SoCal Youth Sports Game Watch Bingo as a free download so families can print it, play along, and make every match a little more fun.
