Thinking about trying soccer with your little one? Our free soccer classes for kids give you a chance to come along, meet the coach and see how it feels. Your child can start exactly where they are.
They might love kicking a ball around at home, then cling to your leg when you arrive somewhere new. Or they might be ready to run before you have put the bag down. Either way, you want to know they will feel welcome.
At SoCal Youth Sports, we welcome children aged 18 months–6 years to playful, professionally coached classes in Pasadena, Glendale and Burbank. Eligible sessions from October 1–15 are free, so you can try a class before deciding what comes next.

A glimpse of play at SoCal Youth Sports. Every child starts somewhere.“What if my child won’t join in?”
It is a question many parents have before a first class. There is a new coach, a new group and plenty to take in. Your child might need a little time to get comfortable, and that is okay.
They may start by watching, stay close to you or try one activity before taking a break. Our coaches offer encouragement as children find their feet. Joining one game or having another go can be a moment worth celebrating.
On the way home, a simple “What did you enjoy?” can tell you a lot. You might hear about a funny game, another child or the goal they tried to score. Those little moments give you something to build on next time.
Playful soccer classes with room to try
Feeling welcome is the first step. Having something fun to join is the next. That is why our soccer classes centre on simple games, plenty of time with the ball and coaches who help children get involved.
- Classes are limited to eight players. Smaller groups give coaches more opportunities to notice each child and help them join in.
- Children learn through playing. Our coaching philosophy avoids lines, laps and long lectures. Activities give children a reason to use the ball.
- Trying matters. We encourage curiosity and creativity, so children have room to explore different ways of playing.
- Caregivers can be part of the beginning. Mommy, Daddy & Me gives toddlers a way to experience the games alongside a familiar adult.
We call this our NanoSports approach: keep the games small so children have more chances to play. They get to choose where to move, try a turn and have another go. The coach guides the activity while giving children room to explore.
Our small-sided games give children opportunities to make their own decisions.Free soccer classes for kids: try the experience
Of course, a class has to work for you too. Getting out of the house, fitting around naps and finding an activity your child enjoys can take some trial and error. Coming along gives you a chance to see whether we are a good fit.
Watch how your child responds to the coach and which activities catch their interest. Ask us questions while you are there. You can also see whether the location and time fit comfortably into your week.
As a nonprofit, we want more families to have access to professionally coached sport. This free offer is one way we can make it easier to get started.
